Bangladesh Police has formed a nine-member committee to prepare a proposed deployment of a Formed Police Unit (FPU) and a SWAT platoon to a United Nations peacekeeping mission.
A Police Headquarters internal operations order says preparations are being planned for completion within the next two months.
The proposed FPU would consist of 125 personnel.
The order places the preparations under the UN Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System.
The committee will check whether required materials and technical equipment for both units are ready.
It has also been tasked with inspecting vehicles, major equipment and supplies needed for mission deployment.
The committee is expected to begin procuring or collecting additional equipment needed within the two-month period.
Its duties include preparing for an inspection by UN representatives and compiling a cargo load list.
It will also arrange specialised SWAT training and select personnel for the main contingent on merit.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Finance) Md Atikur Rahman has been appointed committee chair.
The order was approved by Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir and signed by Additional Inspector General Md Abdullah Al-Mamun.
