The Local Government Division has instructed all District Commissioners to strictly follow the Warrant of Precedence 1986 (amended up to July 2020) in official events to ensure district council administrators and chairmen receive proper state dignity.
The directive was issued through a letter dated July 30, 2026, from the district council branch of the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.
The letter specifies that seating arrangements, official correspondence, invitation letters, and name ordering must follow the Warrant of Precedence to guarantee the proper status of district council administrators and chairmen.
The instruction, signed by Joint Secretary Khondhandwar Farhad Ahmed, requests all relevant officials and institutions to take necessary measures for implementation.
Copies of the letter were sent to the Cabinet Secretary, divisional commissioners, the Local Government Division secretary, police commissioner, district council administrators and chairmen, and the private secretary of the local government minister, among 11 offices.
The Local Government Division stated that the objective is to ensure proper adherence to the state precedence list in official government events and other protocol activities.
The division expects that the directive will ensure district council administrators and chairmen receive their due state protocol and dignity at district-level government events.
