The Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board has cancelled all existing ad hoc committees of private dakhil and alim madrasas across the country.
The decision was announced in an urgent notice signed by the board's registrar, Professor S M Tawhiduzzaman, on 2 August 2026.
The board said the move follows a directive issued on 30 July by the Technical and Madrasah Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
The cancellation covers expired committees and all existing ad hoc committees, under regulation 64 of the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board (Management and Governing Body for Private Dakhil and Alim Madrasas) Regulations, 2025.
The board ordered that new ad hoc committees be formed within 15 working days, with approval obtained under the amended regulations (SR No. 89-Ain/2026).
For new committees, the head of the institution will propose a three-member panel through the Upazila Executive Officer and Deputy Executive Officer, selecting from education enthusiasts, prominent social workers, public representatives, or serving or retired government officials of grade 9 or above.
In city corporation areas, proposals for ad hoc committees must be sent through the Divisional Commissioner to the relevant education board.
The board said the urgent directive has been sent to all principals, superintendents, managing committee members, and relevant district and upazila education officers.
