Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman inaugurated the Army International Islamic Institute on Monday at the Jalshiri housing project in the capital.
He said the institution aims to build an education system that combines Islamic values with modern learning.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman said he expected values-based education to help students gain internationally recognised standards of learning.
The institute’s English-medium programme has been arranged under the Cambridge curriculum.
During the event, the army chief remotely unveiled foundation stones for seven additional Army International Islamic Institutes.
The planned sites are in Barishal, Savar, Bogura, Sylhet, Chattogram, Cumilla and Jashore.
