The Directorate of Technical Education has directed all government technical education institutions to install CCTV cameras to strengthen security.
Institutions were also instructed to send monthly security reports regularly to the directorate and their relevant regional offices.
The directorate linked the decision to a theft at the hostel of Kushtia Government Polytechnic Institute.
At a 13 July coordination meeting, officials said several electric fans had been stolen from the hostel while the institution was closed.
Officials said the incident was resolved locally, while the meeting decided that security measures should be strengthened to prevent similar incidents.
The meeting was chaired by Director General Abul Khayer Md Akkas Ali.
On 30 July, a letter signed by Administration Director Engineer Md Zainal Abedin asked relevant institutions to take necessary measures to implement the decision.
Recipients included regional offices, government engineering colleges, polytechnic and monotechnic institutes, technical teachers' training institutions, and government technical schools and colleges.
The same meeting reviewed progress on a 180-day work plan linked to the government's election manifesto.
The plan includes wall newspapers at field-level institutions, health and lifestyle awareness camps, and measures intended to ensure safe health services for female students.
The directorate also decided to accelerate plans to provide tablets to all teachers at government technical education institutions and to seek approval for standard device specifications.
