The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka said on August 1 that Sergio Gor, the U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, had completed a three-day visit to Bangladesh.

The visit ran from July 30 to August 1.

During his time in Dhaka, Gor met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman.

The discussions covered the political and economic situation affecting the U.S.-Bangladesh relationship.

Gor also visited Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar.

The embassy said the visit showed the breadth and depth of ties between the two countries.

It added that the visit included a commitment to further strengthen U.S.-Bangladesh relations.
