A 48-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a passenger bus collided with his motorcycle in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah, on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred near Nawadaga bus stand on the Kotchandpur-Kaliganj road.
The deceased was identified as Arif Sheikh of Baliadanga village in Kaliganj upazila.
Police and local accounts said Sheikh was travelling home from Kotchandpur when a bus travelling from Kaliganj struck his motorcycle.
Those accounts said he fell onto the road and was run over by the bus, dying at the scene.
They identified the vehicle as a Shapla Paribahan bus named Sagarika.
The bus subsequently struck a van beside the road and left the area, police and local accounts said.
Van driver Golap Mondal said he was sitting on his van when it was hit and that he was injured after being thrown onto the road.
Kotchandpur police station officer-in-charge Ansarullah said Sheikh’s body was released to his family after legal procedures because the family had made no complaint.
