Rupganj police said they arrested six people in connection with an alleged robbery at a resort in Purbachal, Narayanganj, in which the group allegedly claimed to be Detective Branch police officers.

Officer-in-Charge AHM Salahuddin said the incident occurred at about 2am on 3 August at a resort in Purbachal Sector 2.

He said a group of about 15 to 16 people arrived in two private cars and entered the premises.

Police alleged that the group held people at the resort at gunpoint and took their belongings.

A patrol team from the Purbachal police camp arrested two suspects near the scene after receiving information, Salahuddin said.

Four more suspects were arrested during operations on Monday night at the Mastul police checkpoint on Purbachal's 300-foot road and in Mirpur, Dhaka, he said.

Police said they recovered six mobile phones alleged to have been taken during the incident and seized a private car alleged to have been used in it.

The six detainees were sent to a Narayanganj court on Tuesday, and legal proceedings were continuing, Salahuddin said.

The identities of those arrested, the value or full list of property allegedly taken, and the court's subsequent decisions were not stated.
