Khulna police recover body of 16-year-old girl; two relatives questioned

Police in Khulna are investigating the death of a 16-year-old married girl found hanging inside a home, while her husband and father-in-law are being questioned.

Police recovered the body of a 16-year-old married girl from a home in Khulna on Wednesday morning.

The body was found at about 9am in the Gaffar Food intersection area of Gilatala, Ward 6, within Khanjahan Ali police station limits.

Khanjahan Ali police station officer-in-charge Md Abul Basar said officers went to the house after being alerted by local residents.

He said the girl was found hanging from a bamboo ceiling beam inside the home.

Police took her husband and father-in-law into custody for questioning.

Police said they have not yet determined whether the death was a suicide or resulted from another cause.

The officer-in-charge said investigators could not provide further details before the inquiry is completed.

Police said legal procedures were under way to establish the cause of death.
