Bogura Sadar police have received a written complaint accusing National Citizen Party district organising secretary Shawkat Imran and unidentified others of abduction, assault and robbery.
The allegations were made by a bank employee, who said the incident occurred on August 1.
He identified himself in the complaint as an employee of Islami Bank's Naogaon branch.
He alleged that, after withdrawing his salary from an Islami Bank ATM near the south gate of the new building at Bogura Government Azizul Haque College, he left by CNG-run autorickshaw for home.
The complaint says two motorcycles stopped the autorickshaw near the Threematha area and that he was forced onto a motorcycle.
He alleged that he was held at a hostel in Puran Bogura, assaulted and threatened with a knife.
The complaint alleges that Tk82,000, an ATM card, a driving licence, a national identity card and mobile SIM cards were taken.
The accounts differ on the number of mobile phones allegedly taken, with one stating one handset and the other two.
The complainant further alleged that a video statement was recorded under coercion and that he was told to send another Tk20,000 to a bKash number within 24 hours.
Officer-in-Charge Ibrahim Ali said police are investigating and will take legal action if the allegations are substantiated.
Bogura NCP convener MSA Mahmud said the party would take organisational action if the allegation is found to be true.
