Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir met Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi in Dhaka.
The meeting date was described as 3 August in one account and 3 July in another.
They discussed aspects of Bangladesh-India bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.
Both sides expressed hope for strengthening ties on the basis of mutual respect, trust and shared interests.
The discussion addressed social-media circulation claiming that Sheikh Hasina could make a public address on 5 August.
Kabir asked India to cooperate in ensuring that Hasina and individuals from organisations whose activities are banned do not use Indian territory to make political statements or conduct activities.
He said Bangladesh sought to prevent activities it considers intended to create instability inside the country.
Kabir said such activity could undermine positive progress in bilateral relations.
Trivedi said he would consider the matter, seek necessary information and remain attentive to it.
The two sides also stressed continued regular dialogue and constructive engagement.
They expressed hope that mutual trust and discussion could produce durable solutions to outstanding issues.
