Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir met Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Monday afternoon.
They discussed aspects of Bangladesh-India bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
Online circulation of a claim that Sheikh Hasina could make a public address on 5 August was raised at the meeting.
Kabir told Trivedi that Bangladesh expected India’s cooperation in preventing Sheikh Hasina and members of an organisation described as banned from using Indian territory for political statements or activities directed at Bangladesh.
Kabir said such activity could be intended to create instability inside Bangladesh.
He said it could also undermine positive progress in relations between the two countries.
Trivedi said he would give the issue due consideration, obtain necessary information and remain attentive to it.
Both sides stressed the need to continue regular dialogue and constructive engagement.
They expressed hope that mutual trust and discussion could help produce durable solutions to outstanding issues.
