Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has dismissed rumors that he plans to resign, saying they are completely baseless and that he remains in office and continues to run state affairs.
In a television interview marking the second anniversary of his administration, Pezeshkian said his government works in full coordination with the country's armed forces.
He also rejected claims that his administration has differences with the leadership of the Islamic Revolution, accusing a circle of trying to spread the idea of a rift between him and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Pezeshkian said that if he ever decided to resign, he would tell the people himself, adding that he is not resigning and will remain at his post.
The remarks came after resignation rumors circulated in recent days.
Earlier, Mohammad Mahdi Tabatabaei, deputy director of information and public relations at the president's office, rejected the reports as groundless and completely false.
Tabatabaei accused some hardline political groups of spreading such rumors to weaken national unity and serve the interests of Iran's enemies.
