Ukrainian authorities said an overnight Russian missile and drone attack killed at least 15 people in Kyiv and surrounding areas.
Ukraine’s air force issued a ballistic-missile warning before explosions were heard across the capital after midnight.
Kyiv’s military administration said fires broke out in four districts of the capital.
It said residential buildings and several warehouses were damaged.
The administration said one woman was killed in Kyiv and at least 24 people were injured.
The Kyiv regional administration said 14 additional people were killed in areas outside the capital and more than 20 others were injured.
Kyiv’s military administration alleged that the attack deliberately targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Ukraine has sought additional interceptor missiles for US-made Patriot air-defence systems as Russia has increased its use of ballistic missiles in recent months.
