A 2 August notification from the Primary and Mass Education Ministry fixed 1 October 2026 as the joining date for candidates finally recommended in the 2025 government primary school assistant teacher recruitment.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Rajib Kumar Sarkar, said appointment letters would be sent in time for candidates selected against vacant posts, and that after joining they would be posted and later given professional training.
A day earlier, an emergency virtual meeting had considered 29 October as a possible joining date; Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md. Sakhawat Hossain said delays stemmed from investigation and other procedural steps, while the government wanted posting completed quickly.
Ministry sources said 14,384 assistant teachers would report to their respective district primary education offices, after which posting and professional training would be arranged.
The recruitment process included a written MCQ exam on 9 January in 61 districts excluding three hill districts, oral tests for 69,265 candidates who passed the written stage, and a final result on 8 February naming 14,384 selected candidates.
After selection was announced but before joining, candidates protested in Dhaka in late April; Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon then said they would join once necessary procedures were completed and would receive professional training after posting.
