Water Resources State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad said on 5 August that the July Charter would be implemented 'on every page, letter by letter.'
He spoke after paying tribute at the July Shaheed Memorial in Sher-e-Bangla Park in Panchagarh, where the district administration, police, zila parishad, civil surgeon, government and private institutions, July martyrs' families and volunteer organisations also offered tributes.
He urged all parties and people of all opinions to remain united so that 'that fascist of the past' could not create disunity or divide Bangladesh.
He said Bangladesh had achieved a 'second independence' and should keep that independence intact.
He also said five distinguished sons of Panchagarh had given their lives to 'fascist bullets' in the streets and prayed for their forgiveness.
He described the pledge as one of 'our party, Tarique Rahman's government,' saying every letter of the July Charter would be implemented.
Special prayers were offered for the martyrs and for the well-being of their families and the July fighters, after which the district administration hosted a reception for martyrs' families and wounded fighters at the government auditorium.
A discussion meeting followed, chaired by District Administrator Shukria Parvin, with speakers including Azad, members of martyrs' families, district BNP convener Jahirul Islam Kachchu and government counsel Mirza Nazmul Islam Kajol.
