Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, a senior naib-e-ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, spoke at a pre-march gathering in Barishal on 5 August to mark Mass Uprising Day.

He said anyone attempting “deception” or a conspiracy over the July Charter would face adverse consequences.

Faizul Karim described the charter as an achievement won through the sacrifices of students and members of the public, and said no interference with it would be tolerated.

He called for an immediate end to all forms of violence on university and college campuses.

He also urged unity for national reconstruction and what he termed a justice-based society.

The Barishal metropolitan unit of Islami Andolan Bangladesh organised the gathering at the city’s Town Hall premises before the march.

The march later passed through major city roads before ending at the gathering venue.
