On 5 August 2026, July Uprising Day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met Mitu, a fighter injured during the July 2024 uprising, during the opening ceremony of the July Uprising Memorial Museum at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka.
Mitu joined the ceremony directly from her hospital bed and remains under treatment for her injuries.
During the meeting, the prime minister asked about Mitu's physical condition and the progress of her treatment and paid tribute to her courage and sacrifice.
Rahman formally inaugurated the museum before the meeting.
He later took part in a discussion meeting titled 'July 36'.
Assistant Press Secretary K.M. Nazmul Haque said Mitu was among the invited guests and that the encounter with the prime minister created an emotional atmosphere at the event.
The prime minister was accompanied by his daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman.
