The High Court has suspended an order appointing Sabina Siddika as chair of the governing body of Mofazzal-Momena Chakladar Women's College in Savar.
The suspension will remain in force until further directions from the court.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anwar made the order on 3 August.
The bench also issued a rule seeking an explanation from the concerned parties on the legality of the appointment.
The suspended appointment-change order was signed by the National University’s college inspector on 23 July.
Information placed before the court stated that Shihab Uddin Khan had been appointed chair on 24 April 2025 for a two-year term scheduled to end on 24 April 2027.
The later order removed Khan and nominated Siddika, the wife of Dhaka-19 lawmaker Dewan Mohammad Salahuddin Babu, as the new chair.
In his writ petition, Khan argued that changing the chair while the governing body’s term remained in force was not lawful.
He also alleged that he was removed without a show-cause notice or an opportunity to defend himself, which he said breached principles of natural justice.
