A student of Islamic University’s Law and Land Administration department was found dead at his family home in Rajshahi.
He was a member of the university’s 2019–20 academic session.
The incident occurred at about 10:30pm on Friday, July 31, his father said.
His father said the family had spent the evening together and eaten dinner before he went to his room.
The father said the student’s elder brother later found him hanging in the room.
Police went to the home and recovered the body.
The father described the death as suicide, while no post-mortem finding or formal police conclusion on the cause was included in the information provided.
He completed his master’s degree on July 25.
Department chair Bilashi Saha said he had sought a departmental recommendation and advice on pursuing higher education abroad.
Classmates said he had passed the Bangladesh Bar Council preliminary examination and was scheduled to take its written examination on August 22.
Saha said the department was mourning his death.
