Zubaida Rahman and her daughter, Jaima Rahman, paid tribute at the grave of former naval chief and minister Rear Admiral (retd) Mahbub Ali Khan at Banani Military Cemetery on 6 August.
They placed flowers at the grave on the 42nd anniversary of his death.
A special prayer was held seeking forgiveness for Mahbub Ali Khan.
Family members, relatives and well-wishers were present at the cemetery.
A family announcement said memorial activities were also being arranged in Bangladesh and abroad, including grave visits, prayer gatherings and discussion events.
The announcement said a prayer gathering was scheduled after Maghrib at Mahbub Bhaban in Dhanmondi.
Mahbub Ali Khan took charge as chief of the Bangladesh Navy in 1979 and later served in the cabinet of President Ziaur Rahman.
He died on 6 August 1984.
