Bogura Press Club and Journalist Union Bogura held a discussion meeting on 5 August 2026 at the Bogura Press Club auditorium for the second anniversary of the July Mass Uprising.
Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the uprising's martyrs; earlier that morning, the two organisations' leaders placed wreaths at the July memorial in Satmatha.
The meeting, chaired by senior vice-president Rahat Ahmed Ritu, was addressed by chief guest Rezaul Karim Badsha, an MP for Bogura-6 and district BNP president, as well as other BNP leaders, administrators and journalists.
The discussion emphasised remembering the sacrifices of the July martyrs and upholding democratic values.
At Prime University in Dhaka, July Uprising Day 2026 was marked with a daylong drawing competition and a discussion chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kazi Din Mo. Khosru, with three July fighters among the speakers.
Speakers at the university described the uprising as a symbol of the struggle for freedom, justice, human values and people's rights, and called on the new generation to help build a non-discriminatory, humane and prosperous Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Maritime University in Dhaka's Pallabi area also observed the day with programmes honouring those killed and wounded in the uprising.
Jahangirnagar University said it temporarily suspended a student over social media comments about the uprising and allegations of links with the banned Chhatra League, and that a five-member committee is investigating.
