Bangladesh's Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said gas supply would return to normal within two to three days after repairs to a floating LNG terminal (FSRU) were completed.
Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat in Dhaka on August 6, he said the damaged FSRU was being cooled and that gas transmission would begin from the afternoon.
He said power plants that had stopped because of the gas shortage would be restarted as supply resumed.
On complaints of unusually high electricity bills, he said no one had brought the bills forward when asked, and that complaints received were being examined.
He said there had been a routine meeting with India's envoy, during which Bangladesh asked for more diesel to be supplied through the existing pipeline.
Asked about former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the minister said he did not want to say anything about her and accused her of destroying the country.
