A coach of the Dhaka-bound Silkcity Express derailed at Shaheed M Mansur Ali station in Sirajganj on Tuesday, disrupting rail services between Dhaka and the northern region.
The train had departed Rajshahi and was travelling to Dhaka when the derailment occurred.
The timing was reported differently, with one account placing the incident at about 10:55am and another at about 11:15am.
Khairul Islam Talukdar, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Bazar station railway police, said passenger trains were stranded at different stations because of the derailment.
He said the wheel of the train's 'Jha' coach had left the track.
The cause of the derailment, whether anyone was injured, and when services could resume were not established.
