The family of a 14-year-old schoolgirl has accused content creator Ripon Mia of rape in Netrokona Sadar.
The family alleged that Mia took the girl away from her home area and raped her while her parents were absent.
They also alleged that he had previously harassed her while seeking to involve her in video content.
The allegation was subsequently discussed in a mediation meeting at a BNP office in Nandura Bazar, South Bishiwra Union.
Participants reportedly decided that Mia would pay Tk500,000 and leave the area.
Videos of the meeting circulating online appear to show Mia seeking forgiveness and accepting the gathering’s decision, though this does not establish criminal responsibility.
Fazlur Rahman, a former union BNP president who participated in the meeting, said he understood the incident was not forced rape and that the girl’s financially vulnerable family could not afford to pursue a case.
Rahman also said the meeting had advised the family to take legal action and that police had spoken with participants.
Netrokona Model Police Station officer-in-charge Abul Khayer said police had sent officers to the area to investigate.
In one police statement, Khayer said no formal complaint had been submitted and legal action would follow if one was received.
In another statement, he said the girl and her family were being sent to the police station to file a complaint, two mediation participants were being questioned, and officers were trying to detain Mia.
Mia could not be reached by phone, and he was reported to be out of contact after the meeting.
The accusation remains unadjudicated, and the evidence does not establish whether a formal case was ultimately registered or what action police later took.
