The government has issued a 2026 policy establishing a software-based transfer process for MPO-enlisted teachers at private schools and colleges.
Transfers will depend on vacant posts and will be administered through an automated system.
Teachers become eligible to apply after completing two continuous years of service from their first appointment.
A teacher who transfers must serve at least two years at the new workplace before seeking another transfer, and may transfer at most three times during their career.
Applicants may seek posts in their own district, their spouse’s home district or their spouse’s workplace district; where no post is vacant in the home district, they may apply elsewhere within the same division.
The policy also permits applications to other districts in special cases.
When several teachers apply for one vacancy, priority will consider women applicants, distance from the current workplace, a spouse’s workplace and seniority.
Applicants may list up to three preferred institutions, while no more than two teachers may transfer from one institution in a year and no more than one may leave from the same subject.
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education’s director general will be responsible for resolving applications, and incomplete or inaccurate applications will be cancelled.
Teachers who transfer will retain their MPO status, financial benefits and seniority, but transfers cannot be claimed as a legal right and carry no travel or daily allowance.
After an order is issued, the current institution head must release the teacher within 10 days, and the teacher must join the new institution within the following 10 days.
Teachers under suspension or facing pending criminal cases will not be eligible to apply.
Director General Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel said preparations for school and college teacher transfers were complete and that online applications would begin once Teletalk’s software is ready.
