Narayanganj metropolitan BNP leaders declared National Citizen Party chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary unwelcome in the district on 1 August.
The announcement was made at a BNP protest gathering in the Missionpara area of Narayanganj.
BNP joint convenor Fateh Mohammad Reza Ripon said the metropolitan unit would resist Patwary if he came to Narayanganj in the future.
The protest was organised in response to what BNP leaders described as derogatory comments about Tarique Rahman by NCP leaders.
Ripon said BNP supporters would not accept comments he considered insulting to Tarique Rahman.
Ripon alleged that Patwary had formerly worked as an executive at an RFL or Pran RFL company; the claim was not independently established in the evidence.
He also made unverified assertions about Patwary’s past role and raised questions about Asif, Nahid and Hasnat.
A BNP procession preceded the Missionpara gathering, travelling through Chashara and the No. 2 Rail Gate area before returning to Missionpara.
The gathering was chaired by Narayanganj metropolitan BNP member secretary Abu Al Yusuf Khan Tipu.
Other local BNP leaders, including joint convenor Anwar Hossain Anu, addressed the gathering.
