A tourist died after falling into the sea while parasailing at Dariyanagar beach in Cox's Bazar on 1 August.
He was identified as the son of Shekhar Roy from the Baniakhmar area of Khulna.
He was recovered from the water and taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The reported timing of the accident differs: one account places it around noon to 12:30pm, while another places it at about 2pm.
The victim's age was reported as either 30 or 31, and his given name was rendered with slightly different English transliterations.
The hospital's resident medical officer said the man was brought in at 2:10pm and appeared to have died before reaching the hospital.
The medical officer said drowning was the preliminary suspected cause, while the final cause would depend on the post-mortem report.
The officer-in-charge of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station said the death and the operation of parasailing in adverse conditions were being investigated.
Deputy Commissioner Md A Mannan said parasailing had been stopped because of adverse conditions and that no administrative permission had been given for the activity.
A companion of the victim alleged that there was no immediate rescue arrangement when he fell, and said no lifeguard was visible at the site.
Sea-Safe Lifeguard supervisor Sifat Saifullah said lifeguards operate along a five-kilometre stretch from Kolatoli to Laboni Point, but not on the southern beach stretch including Dariyanagar.
Nazrul Islam of Cox's Bazar Citizens' Movement alleged that operators at several beach points had been disregarding rules and lacked adequate safety systems.
