Four employees of the Kashimpur Union Land Office in Gazipur were temporarily suspended after an unannounced inspection by the district administration.
The date of the inspection is unclear: one account says August 2, while two others say August 3.
Deputy Commissioner Nurul Karim Bhuiyan said he inspected the office with revenue and local administration officials.
Bhuiyan said the office staff were not carrying out work under proper procedures.
He said staff members were asked to explain records-related concerns but could not provide explanations or show requested documents.
Bhuiyan also said they could not demonstrate the software used for mutation applications.
The district administration said it had received complaints of negligence, inadequate service for applicants and the use of outsiders or brokers for official work.
The suspension covered the officer in charge and three other office staff members.
The accounts agree that Wazed Ali Khan, Mostafa Kamal and Shafiqul Islam were among those suspended, but differ over whether the fourth person was Abdul Halim or Tapas Chandra Shil.
Bhuiyan said he later visited the Safipur land office and gave directions there.
The district administration said complaints about irregularities and neglect had been raised at union land offices in Gazipur for some time.
No further disciplinary process, investigation findings or response from the suspended staff members was specified.
