CNG-run autorickshaw drivers briefly blocked the Lakshmipur–Dhaka highway on the night of 2 August over a shortage of gas.
The blockade took place in front of Green Life Filling Station in the Islam Market area of the district town, from about 10pm until 11:15pm.
Traffic was halted during the protest, and queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the road.
The drivers said they had been unable to obtain gas locally for an extended period and had to travel farther to refill their vehicles.
They said the additional time and expense had reduced their daily earnings.
The protesters called for gas supply to be restored and for the filling station to reopen.
Police went to the site and spoke with the drivers before the blockade ended.
Traffic Inspector Kamrul Hasan said officers assured the drivers that their demands would be conveyed to higher authorities.
Hasan said the gas shortage was a national problem rather than one limited to Lakshmipur.
He said vehicle movement returned to normal after the drivers cleared the road.
