One person died and three others remained missing after a small boat sank in Moiar Haor near Bhabanipur in Jagannathpur, Sunamganj.
The passengers were travelling home after attending a kirtan programme in nearby Bharaut.
The recovered victim was identified as Arun Debnath, a resident of the Bhabanipur area.
Adhir Debnath, Hemendra Debnath and Satindra Debnath were still missing.
Jagannathpur police and the Fire Service said search operations were continuing, with local residents also assisting.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Islam Uddin said the administration was providing support to the rescue operation.
Local residents said the boat went down because it was carrying too many passengers; that claimed cause has not been independently established.
Accounts differ over the number of passengers: one puts the return journey at nine people and another at 10, although each says four people initially went missing.
The reported time of the sinking also varies between about 3:00am and 3:30am.
One account says Fire Service divers recovered Arun Debnath’s body at about 11:30am, while another says local residents recovered it at about 11:00am.
