Bangladesh received $2.859 billion in remittances through formal banking channels in July, the first month of fiscal year 2026-27, Bangladesh Bank said.

At an exchange rate of Tk123.83 per dollar, the amount was about Tk354 billion.

The central bank recorded $2.478 billion in remittances in July of the previous year.

That represents year-on-year growth of 15.4%.

Remittances were $2.82 billion in June, the final month of fiscal year 2025-26.

For fiscal year 2025-26, formal-channel remittances totalled $35.59 billion, compared with $30.329 billion a year earlier.

Bangladesh Bank described the annual total as the country's highest recorded remittance intake for a single fiscal year.

Unnamed central-bank officials said efforts against hundi, incentives for expatriates, broader banking services and expanded formal transfer options had supported the continuing rise in remittance inflows.
