Bangladesh's gold prices rose on Monday, August 3, 2026, after the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raised rates effective July 31, citing higher local prices of pure gold.

Under the new rates, 22-carat gold sells at 223,074 taka per vori (11.664 grams) including VAT, with 21-carat at 213,043 taka, 18-carat at 182,950 taka, and traditional gold at 149,474 taka.

BAJUS said the adjustment will remain until a new decision, and that VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments.

The increase follows a July 28 reduction of 2,216 taka per vori for 22-carat gold to 220,858 taka, and gold prices have been adjusted 97 times this year in 47 increases, 49 decreases, and one VAT adjustment.

Internationally, spot gold rose 0.4% to $4,055.76 per ounce on August 3, and US gold futures rose 0.9% to $4,054, as oil prices fell more than 5% after US President Donald Trump said he would meet with Iran on Monday and refrained from new attacks.

KCM Trade chief market analyst Tim Waterer said the gold market opened positively but gains were limited by uncertainty over the Middle East and oil markets, while dollar pressure from yen-support intervention made gold more affordable for global buyers.

Three Federal Reserve officials expressed concern that inflation would stay above the 2% target without higher borrowing costs, and upcoming US employment reports could shape gold and interest rates, while spot silver rose 0.9% to $58.13, platinum 0.5% to $1,649.35, and palladium 1.7% to $1,294.92 per ounce.
