Two motorcyclists were killed and three other people were injured in separate road crashes in Kalihati upazila, Tangail, on Thursday evening, police said.
Around 5 pm, a motorcycle on the road from Pichuria to Pathalia in Narandia union lost control and hit a roadside tree, critically injuring its rider Imon Talukdar, 17.
Talukdar was declared dead after being taken to hospital; he was the son of Delwar Talukdar of Karua village and had taken the Secondary School Certificate examination in 2026.
Around 6:30 pm, in front of Kasturipara Bazar in Birbasinda union, a motorcycle collided with a truck, killing Rayhan, 20, at the scene.
Rayhan was the son of Khaleq Mia of Auliawad village in Parkhi union.
Local accounts said four people were on the motorcycle returning from a football match at Kasturipara Bazar when the collision happened, and the three injured riders were taken to Kalihati Upazila Health Complex.
Kalihati police station Officer-in-Charge Kaiyum Khan Siddique said the injured were receiving treatment at the health complex.
Siddique said the truck and motorcycle involved had been seized and legal steps would be taken if anyone filed a complaint.
