The International Crimes Tribunal-2 was scheduled to begin closing arguments on 4 August in a crimes-against-humanity case linked to the July mass uprising, before a three-member bench chaired by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.
Seven leaders are on trial: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, joint general secretary A F M Bahauddin Nasim, former deputy minister Mohammad Ali Arafat, Jubo League president Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, Jubo League general secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain, and Chhatra League general secretary Wali Asif Inan.
All seven accused are fugitives.
Court sources said the prosecution would present its arguments first, followed by the defence.
The tribunal ordered the trial to begin by framing charges against the seven accused on 22 January this year.
Before that, the prosecution's formal charge had been accepted on 18 December last year.
The evidence phase ended on 2 August, with 28 witnesses, including the investigation officer, testifying.
The prosecution has accused the defendants of coordinated direction, provocative speeches and incitement to suppress the July-August movement, calling activists to the streets, planning violence in meetings, armed attacks, repression and controlling the media, saying these acts resulted in killings, attempted killings and widespread violence that fall under crimes against humanity.
