US President Donald Trump's special envoy Sergio Gor met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka on 1 August 2026.

After the meeting, Gor told journalists the discussion had been productive and said American businesses are interested in investing in Bangladesh.

Gor said a group of US investors will visit Bangladesh next week to examine different sectors and discuss where investment is possible.

The meeting also covered strengthening bilateral relations and the partnership between the two countries.

In a post on X, Gor wrote that economic cooperation and a stronger partnership were discussed and expressed optimism about achieving positive results through joint efforts.

On 31 July, Gor visited Rohingya camps in Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox's Bazar, where he observed the situation, humanitarian aid activities, and displaced people's living conditions.

Gor arrived in Dhaka on 30 July for a three-day official visit that has been seen as part of ongoing Bangladesh-US dialogue.
