The National Citizens' Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan warned that allowing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to deliver political speeches would be treated as direct Indian support for destabilizing Bangladesh's internal political environment.
He made the remarks on Wednesday morning at an event in the capital's Kathalbagan area.
The event marked the second anniversary of the July mass uprising and included prayers for martyrs and food distribution among the destitute.
Bhuiyan said that under the prisoner exchange agreement, India should promptly return Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh.
He claimed that India is not interested in keeping her and that whether she is sheltered or not would not affect India-Bangladesh diplomatic relations.
He also stated that although the July mass uprising brought down autocratic rule, two years later the complete end of the autocratic system has not been ensured.
