Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry said a nationwide campaign from July 23 to July 29 detained 14,154 expatriates for alleged violations of residence, labor, and border security laws.
The ministry said 12,613 of those detained were sent back to their home countries.
Among those arrested, 7,103 were accused of violating residence rules, 3,654 of border security violations, and 3,397 of labor law violations.
The ministry also said 1,418 people were detained while attempting to enter Saudi Arabia illegally and 23 while attempting to leave the country illegally.
In addition, 17 residents were arrested for transporting or sheltering people who violated residence and work rules.
The ministry said 30,679 people are currently undergoing legal procedures, including 17,903 sent to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents and 5,424 directed to complete final arrangements before departure.
Saudi law provides for up to 15 years in prison and a fine of 1 million Saudi riyals for helping someone enter the country illegally, the ministry has repeatedly warned.
