Heavy congestion disrupted traffic on Dhaka’s Airport Road from the morning of 2 August.
The backlog began around Kuril Bishwa Road and spread toward Banani-Kakoli.
On the Mirpur-bound side, traffic queues extended beyond the Matikata flyover to ECB Chattar.
The Banani-Kakoli stretch and the Matikata flyover route from ECB Chattar toward Kurmitola Hospital were among the most congested sections.
Traffic moving toward the airport from Kuril and on the Kuril flyover was comparatively less congested than the routes behind them.
Commuters said buses were stopping irregularly around Kuril Bishwa Road to pick up and drop off passengers.
They also said vehicles bound for Airport Road and the Kuril flyover were not consistently following designated lanes.
Commuters linked those practices to the worsening gridlock.
Some passengers said the congestion delayed their arrival at workplaces and called for more effective traffic management.
