The Benapole land port in Jashore suspended all import-export activity on Wednesday 5 August 2026 because of the public holiday for July mass uprising day.
The Hili land port in Dinajpur likewise halted import-export, with commercial operations stopped from morning until evening.
Benapole C&F Agents Staff Association general secretary Badruzzaman Boni confirmed the closure, saying customs and port activities had stopped.
Benapole port traffic director Shamim Hossain said trade and customs operations between Benapole and Petrapole would resume on Thursday morning.
Benapole international checkpoint police immigration officer Saifur Rahman said passport-holder travel between the two countries was normal despite the trade halt.
Hili immigration checkpoint in-charge Md Zakaria said valid visa-holding passengers continued travelling normally, and the checkpoint operates seven days a week.
Hili C&F Agents Association president Md Ferdous Rahman said Bangladeshi and Indian traders had agreed together to keep shipments suspended for the one-day holiday.
Benapole normally handles 250-300 imported truckloads from India and 50-120 exported truckloads daily, with about 40 crore taka in daily government revenue from import trade.
