Bangladesh exported ready-made garments worth $3.89 billion in July 2026, the first month of fiscal year 2026-27, according to Export Promotion Bureau data.
The figure was 1.92 percent lower than in July 2025, when apparel exports reached $3.96 billion after 24.67 percent growth.
BGMEA, commenting on the data, said the decline is being viewed positively because of the unusually high export base in the same month last year.
The association said the $3.89 billion monthly result reflected industry capability and resilience despite a gas shortage, global geopolitical instability, and other adverse conditions.
Analysis of the bureau's data showed woven garment exports declined 3.16 percent in July, while knitwear exports fell 0.90 percent.
BGMEA said export growth could return in the coming months if structural barriers, including energy security, are removed and necessary policy support continues.
The association said it is working closely with the government to sustain positive growth and the industry's international competitiveness.
