Tangail's district administration held a reception and discussion for families of people killed in the July uprising and for July fighters on August 5.
Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku attended as chief guest at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
Tuku alleged that allies of an authoritarian regime were conspiring to destabilise the country.
He said efforts to create instability would benefit what he called fascist forces, and urged pro-democracy and anti-fascist groups that took part in the July uprising to remain united and alert.
Tuku said the July movement belonged to all Bangladeshis and described its aspiration as a democratic, discrimination-free country.
He also asserted that his party had led every democratic movement from 1971 to 2024.
Tuku said many people had been forcibly disappeared over 17 years and claimed that activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal accounted for the largest number of those killed during the 2024 July uprising.
Addressing employment concerns raised by July fighters, he said he would offer the greatest possible support for job creation.
He said he would initiate steps to provide free treatment for every officially recognised July fighter holding a government-issued card in Tangail.
The programme began with the national anthem and a minute of silence for those killed in the uprising.
Thirty July fighters and members of victims' families from the district's 12 upazilas spoke before a reception was held for participants.
Earlier in the day, the district's observance began with floral tributes at the July memorial in Tangail.
