Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, the National Citizens' Party spokesman, said at a Dhaka rally that India probably no longer wants to keep Sheikh Hasina because there is no diplomatic gain left.
He said he had heard that Hasina would return to Bangladesh in December but considered that an unreliable announcement and a message to the government through the prime minister's China visit.
He alleged that the message was made in collusion with the Indian government and that Hasina has shifted from online appearances to voice-only, indicating she is under pressure and cannot move freely.
He said India should not allow Hasina to conduct political activities from its soil and that Bangladesh's government has repeatedly asked the Indian ambassador to prevent such activities.
He warned that if Hasina continues political activities, it would be assumed that India is supporting her to destabilize Bangladesh's internal situation.
He said Hasina is a death-sentence convict in Bangladesh and accused of killing about 1,400 people, and that no other country would likely give her refuge.
He called on India to hand over Hasina to Bangladesh as part of a prisoner exchange on August 5 and to implement the court verdict quickly.
