National Citizen Party northern region chief organiser Sarjis Alam posted two messages on his verified Facebook page on 5 August concerning a documentary about the July uprising.
In the later post, Alam addressed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and asked how it felt to be the announcer of the “one-point” demand.
He did not explain the question in that post.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs screened the documentary at an event at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the capital.
Alam alleged that the film did not include the July one-point demand announced on 3 August or any reference to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
He said the documentary could give viewers the impression that the uprising was a BNP party event rather than a mass uprising.
Alam further alleged that BNP was following a practice of seeking to appropriate history for partisan purposes.
He said that, in his view, an apology from the liberation war affairs minister would not remove concerns over alleged partisan handling of the programme.
The screening was followed by a disturbance after objections were raised over the alleged absence of key July movement events and figures from the film.
