Indian actor Pradeep Rawat died on 4 August around 6pm while undergoing treatment for cancer; he was 74.
About 10 days earlier he had been moved from Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital to a cancer hospital in Bhiwandi for advanced treatment.
He is survived by his wife and son Vikramaditya.
He gained wide recognition as the cruel antagonist in the 2005 Tamil film Ghajini and was cast in the same role in the 2008 Hindi remake opposite Aamir Khan.
He had earlier appeared with Aamir Khan in the 2001 film Lagaan.
Many viewers first knew him as Ashwatthama, son of Dronacharya, in B.R. Chopra's television series Mahabharat; his film debut was Meri Jung in 1985.
Across a career of more than three decades he worked in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films, making his Telugu debut in S.S. Rajamouli's Sye in 2004.
