Actor Jyotika Jyoti appeared tearful in a livestream from her verified Facebook account on the evening of August 3.
She said she had been under severe mental pressure and could no longer cope.
Jyoti said she had nobody with whom she could share her distress and had tried to remain strong.
She said she had received little work for roughly two years while facing online harassment, abusive comments and personal attacks.
Jyoti said the financial strain had at times required her to seek help from her parents.
She alleged that criticism, threats and online bullying directed at her increased after 2024 because of her political and ideological position.
She also said a case had been filed against her and that security concerns had restricted her ability to move about normally.
Jyoti said the pressure had affected her professional life and that people were afraid to work with her.
Near the end of the livestream, she apologised for showing vulnerability and said she felt helpless and without strength.
In September 2024, Jyoti was the director of the research department at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy when social-media claims circulated that she had been confined in an office there.
