Actor Ilias Kanchan returned to Dhaka on 3 August during a break from medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
He has been in the United Kingdom for treatment for a brain tumour since April of the previous year.
He underwent brain surgery at a London hospital last August.
Doctors removed a large portion of the tumour but did not remove it completely because of the risks involved.
His post-surgery care has included chemotherapy and oral therapy.
His son, Mirajul Islam Joy, said Kanchan completed the third phase of therapy on 30 July.
Joy said doctors had told the family that the tumour had become much smaller.
Joy said a new phase of treatment was expected to begin later in August.
His family said regular health checks and further treatment would continue in line with his doctors' advice.
The accounts place his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 5pm, though they differ on the precise time and who accompanied him.
Kanchan asked the public to pray for him in brief remarks after arriving.
