Accelerate Energy's LNG terminal resumed gas supply to Bangladesh's national grid on 6 August 2026 at 3:10 AM, after being shut for about two weeks following a fire.
The terminal is supplying 115 million cubic feet of gas per day, bringing total LNG supply to the national grid to 662 MMSCFD.
Officials expect the terminal to reach full capacity within four to five days, which could further improve the gas supply situation.
The shutdown had caused a severe gas crisis, disrupting power generation and leaving many households without cooking gas.
Industrial production was affected, and CNG stations faced low pressure, leading to long queues and temporary closures.
Officials hope that gas supply to households, industries, and CNG stations will gradually normalize as the terminal becomes fully operational.
