The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has set a new retail price for liquefied petroleum gas for August.
The VAT-inclusive retail price of a 12kg LPG cylinder has risen by Tk70, from Tk1,528 to Tk1,598.
The revised rate took effect at 6pm on 2 August and will remain in force until a further order, the commission said.
The commission set the VAT-inclusive retail benchmark at Tk133.15 per kg, up from Tk127.30 per kg.
Under the new schedule, a 5.5kg cylinder is priced at Tk732, a 12.5kg cylinder at Tk1,664 and a 15kg cylinder at Tk1,997.
The listed prices include Tk2,663 for a 20kg cylinder, Tk3,995 for a 30kg cylinder and Tk5,992 for a 45kg cylinder.
The commission said it considered an August average Saudi CP of US$633 per metric tonne for propane and butane in making the adjustment.
The price of a 12.5kg LPG cylinder supplied by the state-owned company remains unchanged at Tk825.
In April, the 12kg cylinder price was raised by Tk387 and then by a further Tk212, taking it to Tk1,940.
The 12kg price was subsequently reduced in June and July before the August increase.
The evidence gives conflicting figures for the revised autogas rate, so a definitive per-litre price cannot be confirmed from this set.
