Bangladesh received $2.86 billion in remittances through legal banking channels in July, the first month of fiscal 2026-27, according to a Bangladesh Bank report released on 2 August.
The inflow, equivalent to 35,400 crore taka at an exchange rate of 123.83 taka per dollar, was 15.4% higher than the $2.478 billion received in July 2025.
Remittances in June 2026 stood at $2.82 billion.
For the full fiscal year 2025-26 (July-June), remittances totaled $35.559 billion, a 17.3% increase from $30.329 billion in the previous fiscal year, the highest ever recorded in Bangladesh.
Central bank officials cited government measures to prevent hundi, cash incentives for expatriates, improved banking services, and increased opportunities for legal channels as drivers of the sustained growth.
The July figure continues a trend of rising remittance inflows, with the fiscal year total also setting a new record.
